Right hand for better and for worse
Organisations experience periods of growth and contraction. Each phase may have major consequences for both the organisation and its employees. Palthe Oberman advises and assists large international and Dutch companies, the SME sector and public/semi-public institutions in these turbulent times. During a period of growth we assist employers, for instance, in drafting stand-by contracts and agreements with temporary employment agencies. Outsourcing certain services may offer a solution. We can be of help in drafting the relevant contracts. We also have specialist knowledge of civil-servants law, which allows us to assist the government in its organisational and staff policies.
Right hand in times of chaos
Mergers and acquisitions often have consequences for the employees of the organisations involved. We advise and assist the management and HR departments during those often chaotic times. That may also include advice on the responsibilities of managing and supervisory directors. If a division of a company is closed down, arrangements will have to be made with employees who are not offered a position in the new organisation. We can advise on both individual and collective layoffs.
Right hand in restoring balance
We advise both employers and Works Councils on employee participation, collective employment law (collective employment agreements) and collective and individual layoffs. In unstable periods, Palthe Oberman helps restore balance within the organisation. In large organisations the Works Council often plays a crucial part. We conduct the necessary negotiations on behalf of either the employer or the Works Council. Palthe Oberman advises in various sectors, such as banking and insurance, ICT, childcare, media and entertainment, non-profit organisations, advertising and communication, the world of sports, publishing and real estate.
Right hand in contentment
A director or manager of a large organisation can be placed in a difficult position by his employer. Palthe Oberman acts as the right hand of directors and managers in layoffs. In such situations we advise on the severance play and possible directors’ liability. Our sound advice and efficient approach are aimed at obtaining the best possible outcome for our client. We of course also advise directors and managers in the drafting of their employment contracts, their consultancy, interim management or freelance engagements, and other relevant employment law issues.
